{"id":841,"date":"2010-05-12T22:23:27","date_gmt":"2010-05-12T21:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/contentperspective.se\/?p=841"},"modified":"2010-05-12T22:23:27","modified_gmt":"2010-05-12T21:23:27","slug":"emc-world-2010-what-is-new-and-whats-coming-in-documentum-xcp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/contentperspective.se\/?p=841","title":{"rendered":"EMC World 2010: What is New and What&#8217;s Coming in Documentum xCP?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This session was presented by\u00a0John McCormick on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The three pillars are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Information Governance<\/li>\n<li>xCP<\/li>\n<li>Information Access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EMC wants to help customers to get maximum leverage from their information and\u00a0Deliver the leading application composition platform for information management and case processing.<\/p>\n<p>Intelligence Case Management:<\/p>\n<p>Data, People, Content, Collaboration, Reporting, Policies, Events, Communication, Process<\/p>\n<p>Case Management: Argues that it is a discipline of information management which is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-deterministic<\/li>\n<li>Driven by Human Decsionmaking<\/li>\n<li>Driven by Content status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>xCP Product Priniciples<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enable Intelligent business decisions (content and business process analytics)<\/li>\n<li>Composition and configuration over coding<\/li>\n<li>Enable performance through responsiveness and usability<\/li>\n<li>Delight application builders and systems integrations<\/li>\n<li>Beyond Documents: People, process and information in context<\/li>\n<li>Leverage the private cloud<\/li>\n<li>Build a future-proof product (move to declarative composition model)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The goal is collapse all the existing products that makes up xCP into fewer ones.<\/p>\n<p>It is about reusable components, compositions tools, xCelerators<\/p>\n<p>Resusable components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Activities (templates)<\/li>\n<li>Forms<\/li>\n<li>UI<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Process Builder<\/li>\n<li>Forms Builder<\/li>\n<li>Taskspace for the UI<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is coming next\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are different version numbering for xCP and the Documentum platform and this is how they relate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>xCP 1.5 &#8211; D 6.6 (June 2010?)<\/li>\n<li>xCP 1-6 &#8211; D 6.7<\/li>\n<li>xCP 2-0 &#8211; D7 (next-gen Case Management)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Focus for Documentum 6.6<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Real-world performance testing<\/li>\n<li>Composer 6.6 (dependency checking, simplfifcation<\/li>\n<li>Taskspace is getting better in 6.6<\/li>\n<li>Improved manageability (workflow agents behaves more gracefully)<\/li>\n<li>Forms Enhancement (conditional required fields, better relationship management)<\/li>\n<li>ATMOS Integration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Documentum 6.7<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Final release of D6 family (Q1 2011)<\/li>\n<li>Licence Management improvements<\/li>\n<li>Improved Search ( integration of DSS)<\/li>\n<li>Public Sector Readiness (Section 508 improvements for Taskspace)<\/li>\n<li>Composer Improvements (xCP application (and no manual installs and\u00a0version ingestions)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>6.5 SP2\/SP3 and 6.6 ready for Documentum Search Server (DSS)<\/p>\n<p>Integration of cloud storage ATMOS D 6.6<\/p>\n<p>As soon as DSS is out the whole platform is supported on a virtualized environment.<\/p>\n<p>vSphere integration &amp; Certification (D 6.7)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Documentum 7 (xCP 2.0) Sneak peak &#8211; Increased Business Agility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Composition is simpler<\/li>\n<li>Deployment is faster<\/li>\n<li>Case workers are more productive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Improving the tooling<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Single Composition Tool &#8211; xCP Composition Tool probably based on Eclipse<\/li>\n<li>Modeling view<\/li>\n<li>Compose a page\/screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Deployments is Faster<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leverage the private cloud<\/li>\n<li>Everything is virtualized<\/li>\n<li>Deploy to an already installed environment directly from xCP composition tool to a VMWare instance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>User Experience<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better insights into cases<\/li>\n<li>Better viewing experience<\/li>\n<li>Integrated capture<\/li>\n<li>There will be a new Web Services based UI<\/li>\n<li>Easy to search and add content to a case<\/li>\n<li>Easier inline viewing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This session was presented by\u00a0John McCormick on Tuesday morning.
